IWD 2026: TRB PAID TRIBUTE TO WOMEN

For the 41st edition of International Women’s Day, held under the theme “Rights, Justice and Action for All Women and Girls”, Cameroon’s Telecommunications Regulatory Board (TRB) rolled out an ambitious program of activities across all its offices from March 3 to 8, 2026.

Yaoundé: Health, Solidarity, and Celebration
At TRB headquarters, the week opened on March 3 with a medical talk on “Women’s Health from Childhood to Adulthood”, chaired by Inspector No. 4, Mrs. Owona Noah Suzy, representing Director General Professor Philémon Zoo Zame. Professor Ze Minkande Jacqueline and other specialists addressed women’s cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and the importance of early screening.

On March 4, the forecourt of the Platinum Building hosted a culinary fair showcasing Cameroonian gastronomy, alongside craft stalls highlighting women’s entrepreneurship. The program also included a solidarity visit to the Center for Children in Distress (CAED), where food donations were handed over. On the sporting front, a women’s football match brought together the central services team and the Yaoundé regional delegation on the Presidential Guard field in Melen.

On March 8, TRB’s female staff joined the national parade along Boulevard du 20 Mai, before attending a festive reception offered by the Director General in the Platinum Building’s multipurpose hall.

Douala: Dialogue, Creativity, and Recognition
The Littoral and South-West regional delegation organized a roundtable on women’s rights and gender-based violence, led by Mrs. Kogni Edibi Nina and Mrs. Nguiamba Odile. The event also featured the election of the delegation’s 2026 Woman of Distinction, awarded to Mrs. Aloumou, née Assoumou Yvette. Participants enjoyed a creative workshop on mini-hat design and a culinary competition between three regional teams. A special tribute was paid to Mrs. Ba Marie Thérèse, the first regional delegate in Douala, in recognition of her pioneering role in establishing TRB in the economic capital.

Garoua and Ngaoundéré: Awareness and Civic Engagement
In Garoua, activities combined a debate-conference on the international theme, an open day at SODECOTON, and a talk on sexual and reproductive health led by Dr. Rainatou Ngapout Ngoutane. In Ngaoundéré, the program included a cleaning campaign at TRB premises, an awareness session on intimate hygiene conducted by gynecologist-obstetrician Dr. Djidjo, and concluded with donations of essential goods to women inmates at the central prison.

From Yaoundé to Ngaoundéré, TRB’s mobilization for International Women’s Day 2026 demonstrated that the occasion is far more than symbolic. Through initiatives spanning health, education, solidarity, and the celebration of women’s talents, the institution gave tangible expression to its commitment to women’s empowerment and leadership — a commitment that endures well beyond March 8.
